Sharing and Connecting

Today is Toronto Newcomer Day and Dreamwalker joins the City of Toronto Newcomer Office (TNO) in recognizing the ongoing contributions of newcomers and immigrants. We invite you to join us in sharing messages of gratitude, celebration and support across the country.

Toronto Newcomer Day May 21, 2020 The 6th annual Toronto Newcomer Day event would have brought thousands of individuals and families to Nathan Phillips Square for a day of learning and sharing of valuable information to connect and support newcomers as they settle into their new home. The Welcome Project Ensemble was one of many groups scheduled to contribute to the day-long offerings. Instead Dreamwalker is joining the TNO and other organizations to mark the day virtually and to share social media messages on TNO's twitter account (@TONewcomer), and on the City of Toronto's twitter account (@CityofToronto). We also encourage you to highlight and share the great work that newcomers and immigrants are doing in your community, and to promote any programs, services or supports that agencies/organizations are providing help to those most vulnerable.

Introduction to GYROKINESIS® Friday mornings at 10:00am-11:00am (EDT) via Zoom

Andrea's online GYROKINESIS® class will gently awaken and expand your body, breath, mind, and energy. Comprised of a series of precise undulating movements (circles, spirals, curves, arches) combined with a breathing structure, this unique approach systematically and gently works and opens the entire body, stimulating the internal organs, improving muscle flexibility and articulation of joints and bones, reinforcing the neuromuscular system, oxygenating the blood, and cultivating well being through the harmonization of body systems and energy channels, resulting in increased strength, balance, and freedom of movement. To register, please email us here. Suggested fee is $5. In the community Toronto Arts Foundation's Neighbourhood Arts Network is spotlighting newcomer artists this week with events and links to free films and podcasts by or about newcomers on their website.
